OVERVIEW

Disinformation that is, content that intentionally misleads for political or financial gain is nothing new. But as we’ve seen over the last year in particular, digital platforms have made it significantly easier to spread dangerous conspiracy theories, as patently false claims on topics as wide-ranging as the pandemic, racial protests, California wildfires, and presidential election results have gone viral with surprising speed and reach.
Generally speaking, disinformation is a false narrative that is published and promoted as if it were true. Historically, fake news was usually propaganda put out by those in power to create a certain belief or support a certain position, even if it was completely false.
Fake news, or information disorder, makes the truth hard to find, and can also be one of the leading sources of danger to personal security. Understanding the nuances of fake news can help us recognize it and mitigate harmful effects.
Social media has now created an environment where anyone with an agenda can publish falsehoods as if they were truths. People can be paid to post fake news on behalf of someone else or automated programs, often called bots, can publish auto-generated fake news. The motivations as to why people create and distribute disinformation are as numerous as there are individual opinions.

The good news is, while technology has spurred the problem, new technologies — specifically, Solcial a decentralized social network uses blockchain technology has also offer a potential solution to combat the growing threat of digital disinformation. Of course, it would be naive to expect a single, silver bullet solution to solve these complex challenges. But recent developments suggest that a blockchain-based approach could potentially address many of the risks and root causes of digital disinformation

SOLCIAL HAS ENORMOUS POTENTIAL:

Solcial use a decentralized, immutable ledger to record information in a way that’s constantly verified and re-verified by every party that uses it, making it nearly impossible to alter information after it’s been created.

Part of what makes it so hard to combat deepfakes and other types of disinformation is that today, there are no consistent standards or best practices for identifying, labeling, tracking, and responding to manipulated media across digital platforms.

By providing greater transparency into the lifecycle of content, blockchain could offer a mechanism to restore trust in our digital ecosystem. Specifically, there are three key ways in which blockchain-based solutions can address the challenges posed by these new forms of digital disinformation.

Solcial is a permissionless social network that gives users the freedom to interact with each other without fear of ban and censorship.

Solcial moderation model gives users the power to make decision as to which content is good and which is bad. Solcial also have unique UPVOTE and DOWNVOTE button.
Let’s look at it this way, if a post attracts 5million DOWNVOTE, then there must be something wrong. The DAO will then review the post to see what went wrong. If such a post is fake, then the DAO will detach it from the IPSF node and users will stop seeing the post.

CONCLUSION:

Solcial as a blockchain based social network has the potential to make a big difference in the fight against disinformation — but it can’t solve everything. With the right mix of education, policy, and technology, the leaders of today will be poised to build a future in which all of us can trust.

ABOUTS SOLCIAL:
